About Saltaire Art School

As a nurturing artistic destination, Saltaire Art School offers high-quality tuition to the close-knit community of Saltaire and beyond. The curriculum encompasses learning basic geometrical shapes and principles of proportions, light, and shadow, progressing to human anatomy and life drawing classes. Saltaire Art School not only provides an opportunity to learn the traditional approach to drawing and painting but also serves as a space to disconnect from the worries of daily life and immerse oneself in another creative world.

The popularity of the Art School inspired the opening of Saltaire Art Gallery in 2023. The Saltaire Art organization aspires to establish Saltaire as a premier destination for high-quality art in the north of England.

NINA HUNTER

(Artistic Director + Founder)

Nina Hunter hails from Sopot, a culturally rich and artistic bohemian seaside town on the Polish coast. After relocating to Saltaire in 2019, Nina quickly noticed the similarities between Saltaire and Sopot. Although she had lived in England for many years, it was only in Saltaire that she began to feel at home. The presence of institutions like Salts Mill and David Hockney’s Gallery created a distinctive local vibe that inspired Nina to establish the Art School in 2020.

Nina earned an MA in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from The Academy of Fine Arts in Poland. Her career in graphic design and illustration has earned her a reputation as a sought-after professional. In 2022, Nina was appointed as a Visiting Lecturer for the BA (Hons) Illustration course at Leeds Art University.
