Learn to Draw like the Great Masters

___

2 x 4-week drawing courses starting on the 30th of April and 28th of May

Immerse yourself in the rigorous and rewarding practice of drawing in the inspiring setting of Sonder, a beautifully curated café and lifestyle space in Leeds’ historic Grand Arcade. With its distinctive Japantro aesthetic—a harmonious fusion of Japanese minimalism and vintage European charm—Sonder offers a uniquely atmospheric environment that fosters both focus and creativity. Thoughtfully designed with warm wood tones, soft lighting, and carefully selected ceramics and homewares, the space invites quiet contemplation and artistic exploration.

This course offers a structured yet dynamic approach to drawing, rooted in the traditions of the Great Masters—Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael—whose techniques shaped the academic discipline of draftsmanship. Through observational study, you will explore fundamental principles of line, proportion, light, and form, engaging with subjects such as human anatomy, architecture, and still life.

Designed for both beginners and experienced artists, these sessions encourage a deep engagement with the practice of drawing, fostering technical skill and creative confidence. Under expert guidance, you will refine your ability to see and translate the world onto paper with clarity and expression. As part of the course, you’ll receive a complimentary crafted drink, whether it’s a speciality coffee or a refreshing soft drink.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Nina was born in Sopot, Poland, a bohemian seaside town, into a family of architects and creatives. Holding a Master’s Degree from The Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Nina has dedicated 15 years to a successful career as an illustrator. With representation from the IllustrationX agency, her skills have garnered recognition from various global companies, including esteemed brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Penguin Random House, LOTTO, and Davidoff.

To crown her efforts, Nina was appointed as a Visiting Lecturer in Illustration (BA Hons) at Leeds Art University.

However, the spirit of a painter remained restless, and in 2020, Nina founded Saltaire Art School, which also marked the commencement of her full-time painting career. In 2023, Nina’s solo show was sold out at Saltaire Art Gallery, and in 2024, she was appointed as an exhibiting member at the Leeds Fine Artist Association.

Nina resides in her bohemian riverside home in the picturesque village of Saltaire and continues her exploration of ethereal paintings on canvas while engaging in freelance work on selected illustrative campaigns.
