Plein-air Landscape Painting Course in Saltaire (west Yorkshire)

The 6-week Plein-Air acrylic painting course for beginners is launching on the 31st of May.

Spend 6 x 3-hour evening sessions mostly on a deck of River Aire contemplating the rural views, occasionally graced with Kingfisher or the resident Herron.

What to Expect:

• Minimum 5 x 3-Hour Evening Sessions: Explore the magic of plein-air painting during tranquil evenings on the deck of River Aire.

• Breathtaking Rural Views: Let the scenic vistas inspire your creativity as you capture the essence of the interrupted countryside.

• Master Colour Mixing

• Create Compelling Compositions: Discover the art of crafting balanced and harmonious compositions that draw the viewer into your world.

• Embrace Abstraction: Dare to push the boundaries of realism and explore the realm of abstraction

• Develop an eye for detail as you observe and appreciate the subtle nuances that transform paintings

All materials supplied. In case of rain, we will be painting in our usual home - at Saltaire Art Gallery.

the acrylic painting classes for beginners offer a wonderful opportunity to develop your painting skill in a contemporary fine art gallery environment, led by a professional artist.

During each 3-hour session, we’ll create original paintings from start to finish, each one designed to teach you different aspects of painting, including colour mixing and theory, brush handling, composition, transferring images from a photograph, the theory behind a great abstract painting, portraits, landscape and more.

The classes aim at absolute beginners and more advanced painters who want the space to experiment.

You will learn:

• Theory about art materials

• How to transfer the image from a printout

• Ways to hold the brush

• Colour theory and colour mixing techniques, (you never get muddy colours again!)

• Mixing skin tones

• Fundamentals of an abstract painting

31st of May - Plein Aire Painting Course

Weather permitting, we will be spending the evenings on the deck of the artist’s garden, overlooking the River Aire.
When indoors, we will immerse in the art of painting landscape, clouds and all the shades of green and blue.

About the teacher

Nina received an MA in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from The Academy of Fine Arts in Poland. Nina’s career took her on a journey through Graphic Design and illustration and with global clients including Christain Dior, Louis Vuitton and Davidoff she gained a reputation as a sought-after professional.

Nina’s passion for creating art and her desire to educate about quality art led her to open Saltaire Art School in 2020.

In 2022 Nina has been appointed as a Visiting Lecturer at Leeds Art University.
